Located in the north of Portugal, Quinta de Vilar has a long tradition in the production and storage of Apples

Along with its own production, it establishes partnerships with regional producers, and provides them with technical assistance, to guarantee consistent quality.
The production of Quinta de Vilar and its partners takes place at altitudes between 500m and 900m, which gives the Apple greater crunchiness and better storage capacity.

Maçã Royal Gala

Royal Gala Apple

SPECIFICATIONS Native to New Zealand, this medium sized fruit has an elongated cone shape, a medium to long stalk, and a bright red skin, slightly striped on a yellow background. Characteristics The pulp is smooth, sweet, crunchy, aromatic, mildly acidic and fragrant. Maçã Golden Delicious

Golden Delicious Apple

SPECIFICATIONS This medium to large sized apple originated in the US state of Virginia at the end of the 19th century. With a green colour that turns golden-yellow as it ripens, it can occasionally take on an orange blush. The skin may present some roughness (russeting) in the stem cavity. Characteristics The pulp is light cream-coloured, sweet, juicy, firm, aromatic, slightly acidic and fragrant. When harvested the fruit must have a pulp firmness between 7.0 and 9.0 Kg/cm2 and the refractometric index must be higher than 12% (Brix). Harvest Sep Oct

Red Delicious Apple

SPECIFICATIONS Native to the USA (Iowa), it is an appreciated apple due to its good storage qualities, and it is characterised by medium-large sizes. An elongated fruit, cone-shaped, irregularly ribbed (5 lobes near the stem cavity), with a medium, slanted stalk and an intense red skin. Characteristics The pulp is soft, cream-coloured, juicy, firm, sweet, aromatic, with little acidity, very pleasant and fragrant. When harvested, the fruit must have a pulp firmness between 7.0 and 8 Kg/cm2 and the refractometric index must be higher than 12%. (Brix).

Maçã Granny Smith

Granny Smith Apple

SPECIFICATIONS This apple originated in Eastwood, New South Wales, Australia in 1868 and has a bright green colour. The skin of the fruit is quite dense which provides the pulp with good protection and resistance to handling. Characteristics The pulp is juicy, off-white, and crunchy, with a bitter taste and high acidity. When harvested, the fruit must have a pulp firmness between 7.0 and 9.0 Kg/cm2 and the refractometric index must be higher than 12% (Brix).

Maçã Fuji

Fuji Apple

SPECIFICATIONS The Fuji Apple is a clone that originated in Fujisaki, (Aomori, Japan), in the late 1930s, and began to be marketed in 1962. The name Fuji comes from "Fujisaki". Nevertheless, the origin of this name is often confused, as people believe it comes from Mount Fuji. The fruit has a smooth (but not shiny) skin and a faded red colour, on a creamy white background. It is more opaque than other apples and may have golden spots or be striped. Characteristics The pulp is dense and crunchy, light yellow in colour, juicy, firm, aromatic, with a sweet taste and low acidity. When harvested, the fruit should have a pulp firmness between 7.0 and 9.0 Kg/cm2, as well as a refractometric index higher than 12% (Brix), which can reach 16 - 18%.

Bravo de Esmolfe Apple

SPECIFICATIONS Apple with a whitish yellow colour, a round cone shape and its size is medium to small. The skin is thin and sensitive to handling. Characteristics The pulp is soft, whitish in colour, smooth, sweet, aromatic, with very little acidity and fragrant. When harvested, the fruit must have a pulp firmness between 6.0 and 7.0 Kg/cm2 and the refractometric index must be higher than 12% (Brix).
